Chemical changes in cutin obtained from cuticles isolated by the zinc chloride-hydrochloric Acid method.
نویسنده
چکیده
The composition of Malus pumila Mill. cutin from cuticles isolated using ZnCl(2)-HCl reagent has been compared to that isolated by an oxalate-enzymic method. Molecular changes were observed and included the loss of unsaturated components and hydroxyl groups. Such changes may alter the results of physiochemical investigations of cuticles.

Isolation of Plant Cuticles With Zinc Chloride-hydrochloric Acid Solution.
rhe cuiticle of plants is a heterogenous memnbranie in which wax, pectin and cellulose in varying l)ro)ortions are contained in a cutin franmework. In the isolation of cuticular membranes from leaves or fruits the wax is nornially removed by extraction xvith ani organic solvent before detachment of the memnbranes from the underlying epidermal cells. Detachnmenit is achieve(d by the use of eithe...

An experiment was conducted to estimate the bioavailability and evaluation chemical properties of different zinc sources such as zinc sulfate, zinc oxide A, zinc oxide B and Bioplex Zn in broiler chickens fed by semi-puirfeid diets., At first, for chemical and solubility evaluation of different zinc sources in different solvents based on standards methods, 3 samples each containing 1 and 0...
متن کاملNew insights into the properties of pubescent surfaces: peach fruit as a model.
The surface of peach (Prunus persica 'Calrico') is covered by a dense indumentum, which may serve various protective purposes. With the aim of relating structure to function, the chemical composition, morphology, and hydrophobicity of the peach skin was assessed as a model for a pubescent plant surface. Distinct physicochemical features were observed for trichomes versus isolated cuticles. Peac...
متن کاملCutin synthesis: A slippery paradigm.
Despite its biological importance, the mechanism of construction of cutin, the polymer matrix of plant cuticles, has not yet been elucidated. Recently, progress on lipid barrier formation of polymers such as cutin and suberin has been recently reviewed by Pollard et al. In their review the authors state that the ubiquitous cutin is the least understood of the plant extracellular polymers and th...
متن کاملGlassy State in Plant Cuticles during Growth
Cuticles are thin extracellular layers that cover the aerial parts of all higher plants in areas lacking secondary growth. Their chemical and m orpho logical roles as protective barriers between the plant and its environment has been reported (Hol loway, 1982). Plant cuticles are heterogeneous in nature. They consist o f epiand intracuticular wax fractions and, mainly, cutin which is a highly...
